Lauric Acid

Lauric acid is a saturated fatty acid with 12 carbon atoms. It is a white solid at room temperature with a slight scent of laurel oil. Lauric acid is insoluble in water, soluble in methanol, ether, chloroform and other organic solvents, and slightly soluble in acetone and petroleum ether.

Although lauric acid is a saturated fatty acid, its risk of cardiovascular disease is lower than other saturated fatty acids.

Personal care: Lauric acid is used in the manufacture of detergents and as a thickener, emulsifier and stabilizer in soaps, toothpastes and other products.

Agriculture: Lauric acid can be used to make pesticides and fungicides to control plant pests and microbial contamination.
